This term has been a busy one and it seems that we have had very little family time. The children have been adjusting new routines and teachers and this first term is always a pretty exhausting one I find. Chloe has been busy doing coursework, Dylan settling to a new school and Erin finding her feet in Yr1 which seems to be more work and a lot less playing.
Therefore it was lovely to be invited to go and try the new Autumn Menu and the popular Brewers Fayre pub chain. We have one close by so it was good to head somewhere local. It also gave Dylan and Erin a chance to wear their new clothes from Cherokee at Argos
The autumn day menu runs until 6pm which is great for a lunch meal or for an early dinner. I couldn’t believe the value it offered for our family. Eating out when you are a family of five can become expensive but here I was happy to say ‘yes’ to what the children wanted! The older two ate off the day time menu as did Lee and I, whereas Erin opted for the children’s menu. As the restaurant was relatively quiet when we arrived we were told that we could order from our table rather than going up to the bar which was a good touch. I was pleased to see the drinks were refillable and it means I don’t have to keep reminding the children to ‘save some for dinner’. The refillable drinks also included hot drinks like my coffee which was great.
Whilst we looked at the menu, Erin was happily entertained with the colouring sheet and crayons.
The day time menu offers great choice with two starters for £2.50, two mains for £10.99 and two deserts for £2.50. The choice was great and included family favourites like scampi and gammon. I went for a Burger, the boys a chicken burger and Chloe smothered chicken. The portion was generous and saw me struggling to eat it all however I did manage some desert!
Again I was pleased with the children’s menu which offered a good range of vegetables too. Erin likes proper food and would rarely be happy with just a sausage or nuggets and chips option. Her choice was spaghetti Bolognaise and garlic bread. The deserts on the day menu was the same as the evening options and the sizes seemed the same too – just excellent value! We went for the brownie and ice-cream option and again they were enjoyed!
I was really happy with the service, the menu choices and food. As I said at the start it can get expensive when we all eat out but here using this menu we were all fed for under £50 which is just under £10 per head. This certainly offered us good value for money.
Disclosure: We were gifted a voucher for our meal from Brewers Fayre. Erin’s jumper is £12.00 and Dylan’s checked shirt £12.
Sounds good value Em and lots of choice I bet eating out with 5 can be pricey!
