Regular readers will know that I love getting my food for bargain prices at the supermarket. My post on getting £110 of food for £8.50 is the stuff bargain hunters dream of and it pleases me greatly to save money this way. I never want to go without so for me it is all about finding ways to reduce cash without going without! That’s why I like charity shops and reduced aisles.
Both the teen and myself really like fruit smoothies but they can be pricey if you like exotic fruits therefore last night I was really pleased to find some reduced fruit from Tesco’s. This meant that we had a lovely fruit smoothie for breakfast.
16 ice cubes
100 mls of cold water
Add it altogether and blitz in your blender, I have a Vitamix but there are plenty of others about. I do mine on the iced drinks setting because of the ice. Pour into glasses, add straws and drink immediately.
You could also freeze in an ice lolly mould for younger children or as an after school treat.
This costs approximately 12 pence and made two smoothies! It is a great way to use up fruit and ensure you are meeting your five a day requirement.
I am also delighted to say that this blog of mine has made it to the finals of the prestigious MAD Blog awards which will be held in September. As one of six finalists it is now over to a public vote to decide the winner. I would be seriously happy to win but am up against some great competition (and friends) therefore every vote counts. If you enjoy these money saving posts I would really appreciate your vote which closes soon. Just follow this link and select Mums savvy savings in the Thrifty category and if you want my other blog Emma and 3 is a finalist in schooldays! I really appreciate everyone’s support.
