In today’s technology driven world, one of the trickiest tasks parents face is to keep your kids away from mobile phones. Kids have become so sharp with technology, that most would be able to teach you how to install an app or check your emails on your new smartphone and leave you in absolute awe. They are able to pick it up quicker than most adults.
However, this tech driven nature also puts them at risk of accessing information and content which isn’t age appropriate for them. They may get exposed to a lot of unwanted things. Which makes the parents job of keeping an eagle eye on their kids regarding the usage of smart devices even harder.
The trick would be to gain control of their mobile usage with the help of some apps and convert the whole screen time educational and fun for them while keeping them safe from over-exposure. It’s a good idea to get your kid a friendly mobile phone using a site like ‘Your Phone Reviews’ to read reviews. And then pre-install apps that you find both educational and entertaining for your child before handing the mobile to them. There are also apps that can lock certain things that you don’t wish for your child to access.
Best Apps That Help Your Kids In A Positive Way
With this in mind, we have brought you a list of our top applications that you can install on your child’s mobile phone and making their screen time safe and fun.
1 Fitness Kids

Fitness Kids is an app that shows your kids how to do different exercises through animations. It has 25 animated exercises that make it attractive for the kids. It also helps them fine tune their focus and motor skills by involving them in the building process.
Have you ever tried to get your children to be more active and they just don’t feel motivated enough to do so? This is where Fit Quest Lite comes in to help you out. It focuses on activities like hoping, jogging, dancing and walking which are all really crucial for a healthy lifestyle and great fitness. So, installing this app on their phone might just be the best idea you come across today to keep your kid motivated in physical activities.
Do you think that your child enjoys books? And have a strong imagination and enjoy building and reading stories? Well, this app named Book Creator is an amazing app. It is designed for kids aged 8 or above and allows them to make their own books. Your kid has access to images, texts, backgrounds which allows them to be super creative and build their own book and story. This app helps in enhancing the imagination and creative skills by tapping in them amazingly well. It is great for kids who love books and would want to be an author one day.
You might think that yoga is not for kids but it is actually gaining a lot of popularity amongst children of all ages. The Super Stretch Yoga HD allows you to teach your kids different yoga postures through storytelling, videos and animation. These modes keep the kids attracted and focused and they also learn a lot from them. It also has some amazing music to take the fitness game to the next level. And it involves digital flashcards too which is definitely a pick.
Bottom Line
Children these days won’t give up on technology. Within a matter of 2-3 years of their life, they start to indulge in technology more and more. Therefore, it is imperative to gain control over the time they dedicate to technology and the purpose for which they utilize it.
You cannot obviously hope for them to always indulge in these educational and fitness apps that will help them stay active and entertained. But to get the most out of this technology age we are living in a few applications dedicated to health and learning wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Hi Emma,
Thanks for this – very useful in today’s age. Do you have a link for Fitness Kids as I couldn’t find it in the app store? Cheers.

Hi Emma
Thanks for the very informative article about safe & healthy apps for children.
I try not to let my little kiddos use electronics very much at all, but the exception is when we are driving lost distances (like when going camping). In these cases, I let them use an old phone or ipad/tablet and it keeps them entertained for the two hour drive. That means daddy gets his peace and quiet behind the wheel for two hours lol.
I cant wait to try out these apps with the kids on our next camping trip.
My 8 yr old son is REALLY into lego so I bet he would love it. My daughter is 12 and is very creative – she is always doing crafts, drawing, and even sometimes writes short comic strips. The book app would be perfect for her.
Anyways, I just thought I would drop a comment to say “thanks” and that I really enjoyed reading this article!!!
