April has turned into a very busy month for me. I have been involved in some exciting collaborations and busy socialising and celebrating the big 40 birthday. When I have really busy months I am terrible for losing track of my spending. It is the little things, that afternoon coffee with friends, school trips that I pay for and the handouts for the children. Not mention keeping on top of the big bills, the big spends like that holiday I impulsively booked! Working freelance also adds to the complications of this as my money comes in at different points in the months and I am not always the quickest to ensure that everything has been paid on the agreed dates.
Therefore when the Mums’s Mean Business challenge landed in my inbox I knew it would be useful for me. Running a home is like running a business, balancing the incomes and outgoings and making sure everything is paid on time. The Money Hub is a money management app which enables you to see all of your finances in one go. You can sync all of your accounts – from your current debit accounts, through to your credit cards and even your mortgage. It will then display all of your transactions and categorise them for you, so you can compare how much you’ve spent on the weekly food shop in comparison to stuff for your kids.
Now that we are always carrying smart phones about with us this app can really help a family manage their money. I am going to be looking at how I can save money over the next month and I will be reporting back. I have seriously considered getting a virtual assistant to do some of my admin including doing my financial matters so this is really relevant to me and I am hoping it will have a positive impact on helping me feel more in control and organised.
So far I have downloaded the app and connected my accounts. Setting it up was really easy and now I will be looking at how easy it is to use.
