The summer has been one of festivals for us and our favourite was The Big Feastival, at Alex James Farm. Erin and I went for a day but we really want to camp next year and go again. Erin learnt how to make a real flower crown and this is a super cheap way to join in with the festival fashion pack. A real flower crown is also ideal for flower girls and for children who love dressing up and make believe.
The real flower crown is easy for all all children to make, my 7 year old daughter needed some help getting sstarted but soon got the hang of it as you will see in this short demonstration.
How to make a real flower crown
What’s more making a real flower crown could not be easier or much cheaper! Follow our step by step tutorial. You will need some florist tape, fresh flowers, sissors and a wire crown.
- Cut the wire to the length you need to fit around the head. Seal with some tape.
- Cut fresh flowers of your choosing. We used roses and gypsophila althought freesias also work well. The flowerss can either be bought ior you could use seasonal flowers from the garden.
- Next start wrapping the florist tape around the stem of the fresh flower to start building your real flower crown. The tape stretches and fixess itself. Therfore there iss no need to use anything else.
- Add some greenery between the flowers. Greenary can definately be picked fresh from the trees. Ivy looks really good.
The real flower crown will obviously be at its blooming best on the day it is made. However if you use roses they do dry out really well. The day after wearing pop it in a dry place, hang upside down and let it dry out.
The real flower crown will look so pretty for festivals, flower girls at weddings or just when your little persson wants to feal like a princess. This would also make a great fun activity at a craft party.
