It is half term and I have been looking at different activities I can do with the children that don’t cost too much. Today the weather has been decidedly unhelpful meaning no trips to the park. We can’t really complain as we had gorgeous February weather for our visit to London. Therefore I decided to have some pampering time with the girls.
Rather than use shop bought face-masks that often contain lots of ingredients that actually dry out children’s skin or contain lots of chemicals I decided to look into my store cupboard and have fun making our own. These are our favourite recipes which cost me nothing as they are all in the cupboard.
Recipe number 1
1. Ingredients: 2 Egg whites, 2 tablespoons of plain yoghurt, slices of cucumber
Mix the egg whites with the plain yoghurt and put on face. Leave for 10 mins before washing off. Whilst relaxing pop cucumber on the eyes as it is so refreshing.
Recipe number 2
Ingredients three table spoons oatmeal or porridge oats, two tablespoons yogurt, one tablespoon honey.
Mix the ingredients together and put on face. Leave for ten minutes.
Oats are really good for a home made beauty treat because they gently exfoliate the skin.
Oats can also be used in the bath to exfoliate and soften skin in the bath. I often pop some oats into a handmitt and use this in the bath.
These ideas are great fun for a girls night in if your daughter has friends for a sleepover. Making the facemask is as much fun as wearing it and makes the whole experience last a little longer.
These recipes illustrate that you really can have beauty on a budget.
