For those of us living outside the confines of the fashion bubble, the latest trends and what’s in style can be a bit of a mystery or simply something that tends to pass us by. However, even if you aren’t entirely au fait on the season’s hottest looks, there is no need to let your appearance suffer.
Busy parents and those with a hectic work schedule can often suffer when it comes to style. From a lack of time to a lack of funds, keeping up with the ever-changing fashion environment can be both time-consuming and expensive. And unless fashion plays a big part in your life, it can often end up getting swept under the radar.
While most of us tend to put in a little more effort for special occasions and the workplace, it is our everyday casual look that usually ends up suffering as a result of time and monetary constraints. Splashing the cash for a nice piece of clothing that you are only going to end up wearing once isn’t really cost-effective, similarly, spending hours window-shopping for high-end designer pieces that are well out of your price range might be fun, but is it really the best use of your time?
To save money on new-to-us clothes I can’t recommend Vinted enough – it is a great way to pull together a new outfit and it’s great for the environment too. Check out my guide How to Sell on Vinted and remember it is fab for buying too!
Another factor that often plays a role in our casualwear is convenience. Most of us have our go-to favourites and wardrobe staples, rarely venturing outside the confines of our fashion comfort zone to experiment with new styles and designs. If you aren’t careful, this can cause your look to quickly become tired and worn – definitely something you want to avoid!
Try Something New
However, rather than spending money on a whole new wardrobe, why not try a different approach to a style refresh?
Instead of picking out new clothes, focus in on the details by placing greater importance on your choice of accessories. From shoes to bags to jewellery and hair accessories, every outfit can be complemented and pulled off in style when accompanied by the right choice of accessory.
Of course, this isn’t to say that your chosen accessories must be particularly extravagant or over-the-top. In fact, sometimes it is the subtlest pieces that can make the biggest statements, helping to revive a tried-and-tested outfit and breathe a new lease of life into your existing wardrobe. This is why we love Daisy London who have brilliant pieces including silver jewellery for all occasions.
Which Accessories to Choose?
Even though you are dressing casually, there are still a number of important factors you must take into account that will influence your decision. When considering jewellery do you prefer gold or silver for example? Do you prefer a classic chain or a more modern pendant?
I have been reviewing some gorgeous silver necklaces and bracelets from Daisy London. I selected the Forget Me Not necklace which is made from recycled sterling silver with a soft matte finish and is set on a dainty chain necklace. It features a set of etched flowers on an oval pendant, which I adore. I already owned the matching earrings so to have the full set is perfect for me.
Secondly, I picked a new everyday favourite, The Isla Tidal Twist Necklace. This is a simple chain necklace finished in recycled sterling silver, it instantly adds an edge to your accessory game. This laid with the other necklace looks really great. I wore it out for lunch with the girls and they both loved the set together.
In addition to the necklaces I also picked out two bracelets the Artisan Bracelet which features three adjoining delicate bar chains. You can wear this alone or layer up with other pieces which is what I decided to do. I also chose Treasures Sunburst Chain which will catch the light wherever you go, it also features the iconic Daisy sunburst pattern engraved on organically shaped links.
Daisy London has the most stunning range of jewellery and I’d love to know what you would choose from the website. Daisy makes an excellent gift as it all comes beautifully packaged, each piece came in a box with its own dust bag – these finishing touches ooze quality and make it seem such a luxury gift and range.
You should also bear the season and the weather in mind when choosing accessories, similar to making your outfit choices each morning. You would never choose to wear flip-flops on a frosty winter morning, for example, so it makes sense that the season will have an impact on your eventual choices.
Whichever look you prefer, there are plenty of different style choices available to turn an old outfit into a real statement piece. Accessories needn’t just be for formal occasions – once you start to incorporate them into your everyday outfits, you will never look back!

Hi Emma, I have lots of accessories in my wardrobe, but they all have become old. I was thinking to update my wardrobe with new accessories, and your blog helped me in doing so. Thanks and keep sharing.
