This month has seen a big change at home as I am currently carving out a a new working area in our office. Lee bought a fab big desk from Ebay then he sourced a faux leather swivel chair. So far he has been using this space to mark students work. Little does he know that this is soon to become MY space! The dining rooms and office have both just been recarpeted and we like the wall paper therefore it just needs some cosmetic changes.
It currently looks very masculine, basic and harsh. I want the desk to be light, inspirational and pretty. Do you think the husband will notice the change? Here is my before picture.
BEFORE
Before starting the revamp I had a little play about a thought about the look I wanted. I wanted to build the look around a place card holder! Yes you read that right! For our wedding some 12 years ago we had some wooden placard holders made to name each table. Now it holds a small photo from when Erin was little. I like this on my desk as it brings back strong memories and emotions that make me happy.
GATHERING IDEAS
Next I started to grab some ideas. I need somewhere to store bits and pieces so began looking at keepsake boxes. Next up I wanted to add some colour with some pen pots. I also have a real thing for inspirational quotes at the moment, I find them – well, inspiring. Just the thing to get the creative juices flowing. Here are my ideas in the form of a mood board.
