December 6, 2017 by EmmaB Leave a Comment

The festive season is a special time of year, but it can soon become all too stressful. With little ones running around, you can very easily lose track of time, and suddenly the big day has crept up on you. The panic of buying gifts, wrapping them and delivering them to your loved ones with enough time to spare can place a lot of pressure on anyone. There’s even more pressure if your family and friends live in a different part of the UK or even overseas. In this scenario, your only option is to have your gifts delivered. However, there are ways that can make the gifting experience that little bit easier.

Cheapest Way to Send a Parcel this Christmas

For a start, if you know you’ll have to have your gifts delivered, it’s best to keep that in mind when buying presents. Take a look at the list of restricted and prohibited items to make sure you don’t buy something that can’t be transported by a courier. You can also buy gifts that are small and weigh very little, to make the delivery costs as low as possible. It’s also important to package your parcel correctly as this will keep it safe and protected on its journey but will also allow the gift to remain a surprise for the recipient!

Using a courier comparison sites such as My Parcel Delivery can help you find the cheapest courier service available, whilst also helping you to decide which company offers the best delivery options based on your needs. Using a courier will not only help you save money over the festive holidays, but it will also help to save valuable time. You can say goodbye to the Post Office queues by dropping your parcels off at a designated drop-off point if you choose to use a courier such as UPS. Better yet, you can have parcels collected from your own front door with an express service by Parcelforce.

If possible, it’s best to complete your Christmas shopping sooner rather than later, especially if you want to send your gifts via a delivery service. If you can’t seem to avoid the dreaded last-minute shopping, make sure to check out the last delivery dates before the big day to avoid disappointment!

One more thing to bear in mind – couriers offer a standard compensation cover that is great for small and basic items but for packages of a greater value, it is sometimes worth paying an more for additional compensation cover. This ensures that your Christmas gifts are fully protected in the unlikely event they are lost or damaged.

Hopefully, these tips will help you during the stressful run-up to Christmas day and will help you to gain some extra time to spend with your loved ones! Happy Christmas shopping!
