Garden Goals to Achieve Over The Bank Holiday

April 6, 2017 by EmmaB 4 Comments

Our garden has taken shape in stages.  Over time we had had one small patio added and edged the borders and had them developed.  This spring we are having a larger area laid over where we are adding a hot tub.  One corner will also see the addition of an arbour. I am hoping then that I will be happy and enjoy spending many hours sitting outside.  My dream would be to have a garden office – maybe next year! Here are my Garden Goals to Achieve Over The Bank Holiday.

We have a very private garden due to having a large collection of protected trees the other side of the fence.  The garden wraps itself around the house and the double garage that is a separate to the house.  It is not an especially long garden but it is wide.

The tree’s were one of the selling points when we moved here, but they zap the garden of moisture.  This spring we aim to get the garden more colourful which has also proved difficult to maintain in the past.  Our grass doesn’t grow luscious and green and we struggle to grow flowers.  Therefore I have been looking for ideas of how to add colour that will last.

We bought the garden furniture last summer so that will still remain the same and I dressed it with some cushions which again add some colour.

Garden lighting is also key to add depth and atmosphere to the corners.  We have been looking at the garden range from www.thelightingsuperstore.co.uk.  I want to add some lights into the borders which will encourage us to sit out longer in the summer evenings.

Onother addition will be this  Forest BBC Shelter. which provides a great space for eating. This is currently reduced in Argos. Throwing some bunting around will also make it bright and cheery.

Garden goals to enjoy your outdoor space more. Eat, drink and relax outside.

Garden Goals to achieve to maximise your garden space.

It seems pots are the way to go and I have been having a look  at planters including Capi Nature White Ribbed Cylinder Planter.  This way I can water them daily and ensure some flowers last all season! I like pinks in garden and think that some patio pots will be good.

It seems that not only do we need to plant in pots but the choice of plants will make a huge difference. We need fast growing and ones that flower frequently. What suggestions do you have for us?  Let me know in the comments.

Garden Goals to Achieve Over The Bank Holiday what are yours? What would you change in your garden to make it a more usable area?

I don’t know much about flowers/plants, more veggies, but I love the idea of a hot tub! Yes please!

Nemesis is a good perennial flower that will come up and flower from May until the first frost. It comes in a variety of colours and I’ve also got a vanilla scented one. Bacopa is a good annual that flowers endlessly until the first frost. However, give it plenty of room. One plant will easily fill a 10-12″ pot and don’t plant it with anything you want to keep at the end of the season as the roots are very dense and I usually have to empty the pot once the Bacopa dies off. Happy gardening!

Our goal is simply to empty all the rubbish and clear the garden ready for prepping for a redesign.

Our objective is just to exhaust all the waste and clear the garden prepared for preparing for an upgrade.
