For families looking to sell their unwanted items, Facebook Marketplace has become one of the best places to sell. There are few places where your item can reach as many people as with Facebook. If you’re having trouble getting your items sold, these tips for how to sell more items using Facebook Marketplace are sure to help.

Clean items – When you list your items for sale using Facebook Marketplace, be certain they are clean. No one wants to buy something dirty that they are going to have to spend time cleaning up. There are a few exceptions to this such as with old coins, but for the most part, clean and shining is best. Your item will get more views if it is cleaned up than an item that is dusty, dirty or worse.
Great photos – Great photos are the key to selling more items using Facebook Marketplace. Make sure you get a photo of the item from a distance and from up close as well. IF it has any defects such as rips or tears, you’ll want to include photos of those as well. Great lighting is also a must have for photos of things you’re trying to sell as well as making sure there are no blurry areas in your photo.
Price Right – Different online selling platforms will all tolerate different prices. For example, Ebay prices are often much higher than Gumtree. Facebook Marketplace seems to be somewhere between the two meaning you may have to play with your pricing a bit to really start selling. If your items are priced too high, they won’t stand a chance at selling. However, if they are priced too low, you will miss out on money you could have earned. A great jumping off point is 50% of what you paid for the items. If that still seems too high, you can always lower your price as needed.
Cross Post – When you list an item for sale on Facebook Marketplace, you also have the option to cross post it in any local buy/sell/trade groups you’re a member of. Take advantage of this option and cross post to as many groups as you’re able to. More eyes on your items means more money in your pocket from faster sales.
