7 Skills You Can Learn Online to Boost your Income

October 25, 2020 by EmmaB Leave a Comment

Money Is tight. Times are hard. Bills are piling up. The income has drastically reduced, thanks to the latest global pandemic. But you still need to put food on your table and keep the lights on. What do you do?

You would need to either cut back or find ways to make extra income to sustain your household. Most of us do not want to trim our lifestyle, so the latter option becomes more appealing. There is no better place to find ways to boost your income than online. You just need to learn a skill and then work your way around using it to make some money. This article samples some of the best skills you can learn online and help you boost your income within a short period.

1.    Blogging

There are hundreds of millions of blogs out there and others popping up every single day. Blogging is a great way to make some extra income, but you have to be very patient and very consistent. You need to find a good niche and create content people will want to read. If you drive good traffic to your blog, you can make money through adverts, promoting other people’s products (affiliate marketing), or by selling your products on your blog. I also co-own Top Blog Coaching and offer blog coaching and blog audits that will help you make money from blogging.

2.    Digital marketing

Many brick and mortar businesses are now going online to boost their sales. Most of them have no idea how to fully take advantage of the internet to market their products. If you take a digital marketing course, you can place yourself in a position where companies will seek your expertise to help them market themselves online. This could be a lucrative venture.

3.    Copywriting and content writing

Customers buy products depending on how appealing they find them. To achieve this goal, companies are always looking for creatives who can come up with well-crafted content. This is what makes copywriting one of the hottest skills to have. You can learn copywriting easily and start working on content designed to market or increase conversions for the companies. I write for many clients both as a ghostwriter but also as parenting expert due to my vast experience in working with teenagers.

4.    Photography and video editing skills

A picture is worth a thousand words. This adage holds if you have the right kind of photography and video editing skills. Companies are always seeking people to ensure that their products are of the highest possible quality. If you know how to make and edit videos, you will always be in demand. An example is that in my blogging work I will outsource tasks that take me to long or where I feel someone else can do a better job.

5.    Programming and IT skills

Learning how to code is an important skill. You can be hired by companies to create websites or mobile applications. Good programmers earn very good salaries. There are numerous free online courses you can enroll in to learn everything you need in different IT fields including data analytics, mobile, and web development, game development among others.

6.    Podcasting

Closely related to blogging, podcasting has become a hot way to make money online. You will need to purchase some equipment, then network well to get guests to interview. If you are good at this, you can easily make money by promoting your products or products from other companies on your podcast.

7.    Dropshipping

Dropshipping operates under a simple concept. You find products you know your target audience will love. Then you create a website or promote these products on your social media platforms with the price marked-up.  You do not stock anything. If someone purchases the products, you buy from the owner at a reduced price and direct them to ship the product to the buyer. The difference between the buying price and the price you sold the product becomes your profit.

There are still some great profitable side hustles that you can do to d=generate some extra income at this challenging time. Who knows where that side hustle will take you!
