How To Sell Your Goods The Easy Way On Facebook Selling Sites

August 14, 2017 by EmmaB 1 Comment

This week we have been clearing out.  One of the bonuses of the school holidays is that Lee is home to and we tackle those niggling jobs that we never usually have time for.  We decided to have a good clear out of our dining room and study as I am going to reclaim the office as my space.  I don’t tend to use it as it is dark and drab but we are changing that so that I have a nice pretty work environment.

Whenever we sort out we have three piles.  Pile one is the bin, it is the rubbish that has been piling up. Pile two are things to try and sell.  Then if they don’t sell they make it to pile three which is headed for the charity shop. Over the years I have ssold on eBay and more recently on local selling sites.  One advantage is that there is no postage costs, no wrapping the item and trudging to the post office.  A second advantage is that it is ideal for larger items and collection is often the same day which makes your clear out feel more purposeful.

How To Sell Your Goods The Easy Way On Facebook Selling Sites

  • Firstly find your local selling sites based on your location.  Search in the Facebook search bar by your town and also your area.  There are a number of sites very close to me and I am a member of a few of them.
  • Search also for specialist sites as your product may sell for more in those groups.  Examples include Pre Loved Joules sites and also Sylvanian Families facebook groups.  Premium brands often have Facebook sites dedicated to them.
  • List the products mid morning or in the evening.  The Facebook selling sites feeds often move very quickly and your listing is quickly pushed down the list.  therefore I try to post at the stime when I know a lot of people are on online which for me tends to be after the school run and after the children’s bedtime. These are my optimum times for posting.
  • Make the title clear, a succintc outline of the product, including brand name and size as this will help people find your item easily.
  • Take good clear photos.  It is good to take a number of photos when you upload the product so potential buyers can see the product clearly and from different angles.
  • If selling clothes regularly it is worth using a manakin to show them off properly. Especiaally if you want more than a pound or so.
  • In the description include where you are based.  Many people do not want to travel far so knowing where you are is vital and helps encourage people to buy if it is close to them.
  • Research what your product has sold for previously.  I do this by searching on eBay or looking at what others are selling the product for on selling sites. Then you can have a realistic expectation of what you can make on it.
  • When pricing the product add on a few pounds.  People want a bargain or good deal on Facebook selling sites so advertise at a little higher than you will accept.  Then people can barter with you.
  • Be available after posting, this is to answer questions or arrange collection.

Following these tips will help show you how to sell your goods the easy way on Facebook selling sites.

I have a love/hate relationship with local Facebook selling sites….I love them because it is easy and free but I don’t know if it’s just where I live but people want everything for nothing or make ridiculous demands like I’m selling a coffee, tea and sugar pots. The set and they decide they only want the coffee one. Give me strength! lol x
