The school holidays always finds us working on the house, whether it is a spot of decorating and updating a room or bigger projects they are usually achieved in the holidays as my husband gets a break from teaching and focus’s on the home instead. This summer has been no different and the living room has had a refresh.
We have replaced the carpet as it was looking a bit tired. It was already fitted when we moved in, so it has lasted well but I can’t believe the difference a new carpet has made. The room looks brighter and bigger. Before the carpet was fitted Lee repainted the skirting boards and radiator cover. Again giving it a fresh look. These are quite low cost ways to brighten a room, the skirting makes a huge difference and it literally bounces the light around.
Next, we added a few new soft furnishings and had a move around. Sometimes a change about is all that is needed as it draws the eye to different spots of the room. For soft furnishings, we look at Aldi where interiors fans can rejoice as they are bringing two Kirkton House homeware ranges to the Specialbuys aisle this summer, featuring some of this year’s hottest trends. Shoppers can choose from bold printed bedding, chic chindi rugs and stylish throws and cushions, without the designer price tag. To snap up these items quickly, shoppers can head online and in stores. These interiors are set to fly off the shelves, so mark the date as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone.
I really go for Scandi-interiors which is a firm stylist favourite, it encourages us to embrace hygge at home for the ultimate Nordic retreat with Aldi’s chic Woven Throw (£12.99) with complementary Woven Cushions (£6.99). Pair with the stylish Chindi Rug (£5.99) and rest tired feet on the Bean Cube (£29.99), available in a range of on-trend designs.
The throw looks great on my sofa and also protects it from where our dog Lilly chooses to sit! Having a throw across the sofa gives it that snuggly feel but it also protects our sofa from claw marks or grubby paws. Replacing a throw is much cheaper than a sofa! I especially like the pom poms on the throw as it gives it a nice modern twist.
The second new range is the palm prints which remain a stylist staple for summer and shoppers can go bold with their bedding with Aldi’s Summer Tropics Duvet Sets (from £9.99) and matching Flat and Fitted Sheets (from £3.99) available in a variety of sizes and designs to give bedrooms a summery refresh and a splash of colour. For those who prefer a floral print, the Summer Tropic Cushions are perfect for sprucing up bedrooms, living rooms and are available in a selection of trendy floral designs.
With Aldi you can redress a room for a fraction of the cost. This is especially good in the summer months when you also want to spend money entertaining the children with a few days out or a holiday. Aldi’s Style Your Room range is available to pre-order online from Sunday 28th July and to purchase in stores from Thursday 1st August, whilst stocks last.
