Is your low credit score giving you sleepless nights? Relax, you are not alone. Financial worries plague millions of people across the world. While a poor credit rating is not exactly ideal, it doesn’t mean that you are going to suffer forever. In this post, I am going to tell you how you can buy goods online on credit even with a poor credit score. More importantly, though, I will tell you how I fixed my bad credit rating fairly and easily through using online bad credit catalogues.
In 2014, I had to leave my job, and my savings account then had little savings to carry me over. Two months later, I had not found another job, and before I knew it, my credit card debt had hit almost $3,200. While I did get a job in the long run, the credit card debt had significantly hurt my credit rating, and I found it a little difficult to get some things done. But thanks to some Google research, I found out that my poor credit rating didn’t mean that I couldn’t shop for goods online.
I needed to buy some goods on credit, so I did some research on bad credit catalogues. Today, there are many bad credit catalogues that offer goods and services to individuals with poor credit scores. Examples of the most commonly used catalogues include Curvisa, La Redoute, Perfect Home, Freemans, Kaleidoscope, Bon Prix, among others which can be found on cataloguesforbadcredit.co.uk
So here is what I did;
I signed up with a bad credit catalogue;
Opening an account with the catalogue wasn’t difficult. The signing process itself took less than five minutes, and I got feedback within minutes. Most bad credit catalogues guarantee 100% approval, so I was accepted and I could start shopping right away. However, it is important to mention that most bad credit catalogues limit the number of purchases they approve shoppers for. Once a customer registers, they are granted a purchase limit of, say, £600. If the customer pays up regularly as required of them, this limit is gradually increased. It can go as high as £3000, or even more.
I selected a payment option I was comfortable with;
Credit catalogues offer shoppers a variety of payment options. Customers do not have to pay any upfront fee or clear the whole cost before taking their goods. Shoppers can choose the buy-now-pay-later option which allows them to take products and pay for them later. I preferred to spread my costs over several months, so I could pay for my goods in smaller monthly instalments. This way, making payments became easier because I split the cost into smaller instalments that I could afford every end of the month.
Also, spreading the costs over many months made it easier for me to purchase even the more expensive products because I knew I could afford the small monthly instalments.
Note that getting a catalogue credit is similar to getting a bank loan because any late or missed payments hurt your credit score just like a missed loan repayment does. So, by selecting a payment option that I was comfortable with, I avoided the chances of making late payments or missing payments altogether.
Took advantage of the interest-free periods;
Credit catalogues offer customers an interest-free period for every product they purchase. It usually lasts between three and twelve months. During this period, the monthly or weekly instalments do not include any interest. This means that in case a shopper manages to pay off their debt before the interest-free period elapses, the total amount they pay is equal to what they would have paid had they purchased the products the regular way, that is, without credit. If the grace period elapses and payment is not completed, then monthly instalments include some interest.
I learned to take advantage of these interest-free periods to avoid paying more for products. If the grace period was longer, say, 6-12 months, I could take a more expensive item because then, I could spread the cost over the many months. I avoided taking more expensive items when I only had like 3 or 4 months to clear the debt, because it meant my monthly instalments would be higher, making payment harder.
I could buy anything I wanted
I noticed that bad credit catalogues stock almost everything I could find in a regular online shop or brick and mortar store. From clothes, swimwear, footwear, leisure stuff, to furniture and home décor products, I could get anything I wanted from a credit catalogue. Some catalogues stock a wide range of products while others only sell specific items. For example, there are those that only stock men’s fashion items while others stock children’s clothes and footwear.
I took advantage of incentives
As noted, several bad credit catalogues have set up shop online and, therefore, there is competition for shoppers. So, in a bid to attract customers, most of these catalogues offer a raft of incentives including free deliveries, discounts and coupon codes for various items. Taking advantage of these incentives saved me a lot of money. I could shop at the comfort of my couch at home, and my goods were delivered at my door free of charge.
Note that note all catalogues offer considerable discounts or free deliveries. So it is important to compare multiple catalogues and shop with those that have the best offers.
Bad credit catalogue interest rates
Credit catalogues’ interest rates vary widely. I noticed that the lowest rate is around 18% per annum and the highest is around 60% per annum. On average, though, most catalogues use an interest rate of around 38%. The highest interest rates are often used by credit catalogues with long-term payment options (usually lasting more than 24 months), so it is advisable to avoid such catalogues. However, you can avoid paying extra costs by paying off your debt within the interest-free period provided by the credit catalogue.
How I fixed my credit score by using credit catalogues
Using credit catalogues proved to be a great way of rebuilding my rating back up. I was getting products on credit, which means that I had a chance to show that I am a financially responsible person who can deal with credit maturely. So here is what I did;
• I ensured that I paid my bill on time
As I mentioned earlier, late or missed payments are among the most common causes of poor credit scores. So, I, therefore, resolved to pay all my bills on time every end of the month. While I didn’t get immediate results, doing this, gradually improved my credit score because I proved that I could consistently pay my bills promptly.
• I kept my credit card open and used it while shopping online
You see, one of the mistakes people make when they are in debt is not keeping their credit cards open and being afraid to use them. When you close your credit cards, you are decreasing the amount of credit that’s available to you. And it turns out that using your credit card wisely when in debt is actually a great way to boost your credit rating.
I wasn’t afraid of regularly charging items and paying them off when my credit card bills were due. By doing this, I was also showing that I could maturely handle credit.
• I selected the right payment options
By choosing a payment option I was comfortable with, I avoided chances of missing payments or paying my bills late. I split my costs into smaller instalments which I could afford to pay every end of the month.
Credit catalogues are helping a lot of people out there today, and as we have seen, having a poor credit score doesn’t stand between you and online shopping. Today, more than ever before, you have a wide range of credit catalogues to choose from, and you can shop for any goods and services. The catalogues come with a variety of benefits especially for individuals with low credit scores.
Therefore, if your credit score isn’t that good and you are wondering just how you are going to get that TV, Sofa, Dress, Shoe, or whatever item on credit, then you might want to consider signing up with a credit catalogue today. Besides granting you credit on whatever items you want, credit catalogues will help you rebuild your credit score, just like they helped me. So, do some research, find reputable and trustworthy credit catalogues, compare their offers, and go with the one that best suits you.
Note, however, that to have the best shopping experience with credit catalogues, be sure to always pay off your monthly bills on time. I noticed that the best way to ensure that you don’t miss payments is by selecting a payment option that you’ll be comfortable with. Again, ensure that your monthly instalments are not more than 10% of your monthly income. This way, you will comfortably pay up your bills, increase you’re your shopping opportunities, and most importantly, increase your credit rating.
