Welcome back to our money saving linky, the place to find out all the tips and tricks that save us or make us money each week. This week has been another busy one with a day in London and trying to do lots of jobs before the children break up for summer. My tips this week include DIY and how to make your money go further on holiday.
- This week I met consumer champion Alice Beer at a money saving panel event with B Bank. Alice is delightful in person and offered some great tips along with the fabulous Jasmin Birtles of Money Magpie. You can read the tips in my post Get Beach Budget Ready and learn how to save money on your next holiday.
- Whilst Chloe is at home we have employed her to paint Erin’s bedroom. It is cheaper and gets its done for us. She has also painted all her bedroom furniture which was unfinished pine. She has painted it a light grey with furniture paint and it has made a huge difference. We also bought new knobs from ebay (which were so much cheaper than in a DIY shop) and it all looks great.
- We also did our food shop at Marks and Spencer at 3.20pm on Sunday knowing we would get the yellow sticker food. We had a busy week planned and knew we needed some quick and easy meals. I was also working in London one day meaning Dyl had to cook for the three of them. They had reduced pizzas and thoroughly enjoyed them!
- I have been helping Chloe find a summer job and this has now been achieved. It is definitely harder to find work than when I was her age but she will now be waitressing, do bar work and some childcare. We applied for her DBS check to ensure she can work with children. I would suggest to others to do this in advance next time. It hadn’t been on my radar to get this done despite understanding the laws around working with children.
FRUGAL THINGS I’VE DONE LINKY
We would love you to join in with us by sharing what frugal and thrifty things you’ve been up to this week. Whether it’s an Instagram picture (#5frugalthings), a blog post or even a video. Just add your link to the linky at the bottom of this post. You don’t have to share five things you’ve done, anything thrifty or frugal that you’ve been doing is perfect.
We’d like to make this a great little community linky so it would be brilliant if you could comment on a couple of the other blog posts linked up. We’ll make sure that we comment on all posts and if you have a Pinterest friendly image then we’ll Pin your post to one of our boards too.
You’re more than welcome to copy and paste the badge above but it would be even better if you could let your readers know that you’re linking up with us by adding a little line to the bottom of your post like this one:
