How to Make a Chocolate Card: The Unique Birthday Card

April 16, 2015 by EmmaB 1 Comment

It was my birthday yesterday and I had been rubbish at giving everyone ideas this year.  I really struggled to think of anything I actually wanted or needed.  Yet my amazing kids delivered this fabulous homemade chocolate card.

My teen kept asking and then she suggested a pandora charm which was very sweet of her but I told her that I didn’t want her to spend that much of her pocket on me and to just get me something little or better still make me something special.

Thankfully she heeded my words as started thinking outside the box and the girl did great!  I had a lovely homemade birthday card with a £5 Costa voucher tucked inside which means I can have a nice caramel latte in peace at some point.  This was a really thoughtful gift.

However, her next present was amazing, unique and one that made me laugh.  She had taken inspiration from the internet and made me an amazing chocolate birthday card.

How cool is this chocolate card?  I love it and what is more, she created this out of her easter egg stash!  She roped her brother in and together they worked on this little beauty.

How to make a chocolate card?

  • Firstly get a large piece of card at least A3 size.
  • Next write out a little message – use the ideas above or I have added some more below!
  • Write out your message in pencil first so you space it out appropiately.
  • Once happy with the positioning, go over the writing with coloured pens, sticking the chocolate down as required.

This is a super easy but fun way to make a homemade gift for someone. It just shows what you can do with a little imagination and not much money.

I had a look on pinterest and google myself and there are similar that also use the following Chocolate bars.

Examples of phrases to use in your chocolate card

Areo – as in areoplane

Time out – have a break / we decided to give you some time out because you are always doing things for me /us.

Topic – you have been the topic of conversation as your birthday is here

Picnic – we thought of going on a picnic but …

Star Bar – you really our a star because …

Wispa – you didn’t give us a whisper of what you wanted so we made this….

Turkish Delight – we considered a Turkish holiday but …

And there are more.  This is such an easy present and I think it is a great money saving present too.
