What is better than cheap – free!
That’s right I have found an app that gives you free food to try but more of that in a bit. Firstly I want to share how I am reducing my food bills. As I have said many times before I like nice things so going without is not an option for me and thankfully I have never been in a position to really worry about the cost of food but that doesn’t mean I like paying more than I need to.
Here are some of my tips.
1. I go to Tesco just before 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. Now this isn’t for the faint hearted as it is a bit of a scramble at times. But it is worth it. I especially like to get the reduced fruit and veg as I use them in smoothies and I the cost of some fruit is reduced to 5p. I bought bags of salad, blackberries and grapes all for 5p each this week. the meat is also reduced and I got some Tesco Finest steak chunks for 50p, they were lovely for the children cooked in the slow cooker with some veg.
2. When eating out use VoucherCodes. This week I met a lovely friend for lunch in Cafe Rouge and she bought with her a voucher for 50% off all main meals. I was impressed and enjoyed my Tuna Salad at just over £5 instead of £10. I was only drinking tap water as part of my detox diet so it was a cheap lunch date!
3. Meal plan and take a list to the supermarket. Obvious but if you don’t plan or at least have a list then you just end up buying stuff that doesn’t even make a meal. I am a supermarkets dream as easily swayed by there marketing ploys which is sometimes fine but I still need to have proper meals and not just chocolate bars that are on offer!
4. Finally my freebie for today. I have found an app called CheckoutSmart which is available for both Android and Itunes and once downloaded it tell you of any offers available in the supermarket that you are shopping in. This week I have picked up a box of Lindt Chocolate (Husband will get those for valentines) a bottle of pepsi max, a bottle of water and some Phileas Fogg crisps all for free. You simply purchase them and then when home use your phone to photograph the receipt which is then uploaded and your accounted is credited back with the money. I was credited within two hours for my purchases. You can then request the money into your paypal account. How easy is that! For me it equated to over £7 worth of free products yesterday alone. Here is the Link to find out more.
Do you have any great apps that save money on food? If so I would love to know them so please do tell me in the comments.
