12 Smart Ways to Use Stasher Bags in the Home

April 12, 2021 by EmmaB Leave a Comment

One of the most important switches we can make in our homes is to eliminate single-use plastic. We have already switched straws and stopped using cling film in the kitchen but there is more that we can do! One universal product that we are loving is the switch to are Stasher Bags which are much more environmentally friendly and much more user friendly too! In this post, I am sharing 12 ways that we use stasher bags in the home.

What are stasher bags?

Stasher bags are self-sealing platinum silicone storage bags that won’t degrade over time. They’re endlessly reusable and available from SaveMoneyCutCarbon, the website that helps us all become more sustainable in the home.

Their tried and tested patented design is suitable for the freezer, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, and a standard oven or pot of boiling water up to 200 degrees Celsius (400F).

Stasher bags replace the need for tupperware, clingfilm and plastic freezer bags, which shows just how useful they are.

Collaborating with SaveMoneyCutCarbon

We are making a concerted effort to become more environmentally friendly and thanks to SaveMoneyCutCarbon we are making great strides. We have changed to LED lightbulbs and more recently we have swapped over to stasher bags. Over the last month, we have been using the silicone bags at home and have found endless uses for them! They can be used in many rooms in the house and I thought it would be great to share just how practical and versatile stasher bags really are.

We have used them in the freezer, the microwave and even in a pot of boiling water when I defrosted some bolognese that I had batch cooked and froze for a quick meal.

As a brand ambassador for SaveMoneyCutCarbon I am learning so much about the positive impact we can have as a family when we implement change. If we all got on board and made these small step changes, collectively we would make a huge difference to our community and wider society. The Learn&Save section of the website offers many useful blog posts and tips that we can all be inspired and informed by.

Stasher bags in the kitchen

Ideal for storage – they’re brilliant for storing measured ingredients, fresh foods, dairy items, cold meats or leftovers in your kitchen cupboards, drawers or fridge – and, because they’re clear, it’s easy to see at-a-glance what’s inside.

Meal Prep – When I am eating healthy and ‘on plan’ I often meal prep as it is easier to batch cook up my meals nd then they are ready for me. This takes the pressure of cooking when I am hungry. The bags are ideal for storing my meals in

Marinating – thanks to their leakproof seal, Stashers are an ideal way to bag up ingredients with a tasty marinade so they can infuse with flavour before they’re cooked.

Freezer safe – silicone doesn’t go brittle at low temperatures, so you don’t have to worry about the quality of the seal, or about splits developing over time in your freezer. I often prep Chloe meals to take back to university and keep in the freezer. The stasher bags can be used for these meals and even for freezing homemade soup!

Days Out

Picnics – As society is opening up again it will be time for picnics in parks and hopefully lots of days out. The bags make ideal lunch containers. Traditional lunch boxes are always rigid and take up lots of space in your bag even when empty, however, these clever bags will take up much less space.

On the beach – we all know that sand and damp affect our phones therefore the silicone bags are ideal for keeping our phone and keys safe at the beach.

Swimming – the stasher bags are useful for popping a child’s swimming suit in after their swimming lesson, it saves getting everything else wet.

Reusable nappy – if you use reusable nappies then bringing them home can often cause a problem in your changing bag. Now you can pop it in a stasher bag, reseal and forget about it until you are home.

Bedroom uses for stasher bags

The silicone bag will make excellent storage for make up in your bedroom and will be ideal for when we are finally able to fly and travel widely again!

Menstrual products – the smaller bags are ideal for storing feminine hygiene products.

Playroom / Kids Room

Slime / Playdough – need I say anymore! My 11-year-old is obsessed with making slime and now we have somewhere clean and safe to keep her slime safe and off the floor!

Collections – what is it with collecting things, one year it is cards another year it is making jewellery. The stasher bags are ideal for keeping smaller collecables together. They can then be taken to friends houses etc.

Advantages of stasher bags

There are a number of advantages when making the switch to reusable silicone bags. Luckily, these silicone bags can be hand washed or popped in the dishwasher with ease which is super important when reusing bags. Stasher made sure that they have the perfect bag for just about anything and come in five convenient sizes. In addition to the whole 3,000 uses thing, Stasher bags are durable in a way that the single-use plastic bags they’re replacing never even dreamed of.

You can buy your stasher bags on the SaveMoneyCutCarbon website which ensures that you are buying them at the best price as a Home Club Member. Let me know what other uses you have found for stasher bags.
