4 Times When Sending a Handwritten Note is Most Appropriate

October 12, 2022 by EmmaB Leave a Comment

Gone are the times when you pop over to your letterbox and find a beautiful greeting card lost in between the bills and the endless ads that are chucked in there. Whilst technology has made our lives easier overall and has improved the ease with which we communicate, it has also managed to take away the feeling of connection that opening a handwritten letter brings. Receiving a handwritten card makes us feel appreciated, and valued, and it’s really nice to know that someone took a moment out of their day and thought about us. Instead of moving every aspect of our lives to digital platforms, we wanted to share with you 4 times when sending a handwritten note is appropriate.

1) Birthday Cards

No matter how many funny birthday memes there are or digital birthday cards are out there, you truly can’t beat the feeling of opening a physical birthday card. If you truly want to make sure that your loved one feels special on their big day then sending a birthday card is the way to do it. Whilst it can be expected to send a note on someone’s birthday, it’s still very much appreciated.

2) Thank you cards

Thank you cards are the perfect time to send out something handwritten. There are cute options online for digital cards, but they don’t come close to showing your true sentiment. Thank you cards can be given on any occasion where you want to show your thanks and appreciation to others. You can send out a thank you card after;

  • Weddings,
  • Receiving gifts,
  • After receiving condolence cards or gifts,
  • Being a houseguest, etc.

Another occasion that isn’t nearly as thought of is after you make a big purchase. For example, if you’ve just bought a new car or have done so in the past, there is no doubt that you remember how tedious the ordeal can be. From trying to negotiate a price, to dealing with financing, and other bits involved, a lot of work goes into it.

This is why it is a lovely gesture to send a thank you card to your salesperson. This works to establish a rapport and can help you negotiate a better deal when you make a future car purchase. If you happen to be a car salesperson yourself, then consider sending out car sales thank you cards to anyone that you have worked with or can potentially gain as a customer. This helps establish your business as one that values its customers and helps them feel like a person, not just another number.

3) Get well cards

If you have ever been ill you know how uplifting it can be to receive a get well card. This is why sending a get-well card to family or friends is a great way to let them know that you are thinking about them during their time of illness. The psychology of greeting cards shows that receiving a card can elicit an emotional response. This can help the person that is convalescing to feel how much they are cared for. This can impact their mood overall and can help them on their way to feeling better.

4) Congratulations

Congratulations cards are a wonderful way to help share in the joy of those around you. The best part about these types of cards is that they can be used to celebrate any achievement, no matter how big or small! From your friends welcoming a new addition to their family, to someone landing a new job. Anything and everything can be celebrated! These types of cards can help people feel closer together and can create more of a bond and community feel.

As you can see, sending cards for special occasions is a great way to help people feel connected in this digital world. The best thing about this is that special occasions are not just birthdays and Christmas, a special occasion can be anytime you want to build a bridge or reach out just because.

Sharing is caring!
