Nature provides some of the best materials for craft activities. My house is surrounded by pine trees, and therefore, I am always looking for ways to use pinecones when decorating the house. This year I have made sure that I incorporated the natural in my Christmas decorations by using natural Christmas decorations sourced locally by my front door!
One of the selling points for this house was the view from my backdoor. We are surrounded by protected trees which are beautiful. I never bore of watching the squirrels run and play in them. Other people may find treasures on the beach, be it driftwood or shells. All these things can be cleverly used to make stunning festive natural Christmas decorations.
Decorating for the holidays doesn’t have to be expensive. In fact, it’s easy to decorate with items that are virtually free and as nature intended!
I am always amazed at craft fairs how much some of these accessories cost when they can be made for pennies and your time. Let’s face it this year we have plenty of time at home to get creative!
Handmade decorations always look brilliant, not only do you feel such satisfaction after making them but it is also a savvy way to get the latest looks on a budget. This time last year I made a Christmas rag wreath for under a £5 and I can’t wait to hang it up again!

I am also go to try some of the crafts Saltrock have shared especially the Pinecone fairies do go at check out the full collection of ideas from the talented bloggers that put together tutorials.
Pinecones are the ultimate fall and winter decoration. They have a unique shape, they’re easy to source, and they look good with absolutely everything.
Pinecone Fairies
How adorable are these little pinecone fairies? They require slightly more assembly than some of the other natural Christmas decorations, but the effort is worth it. Get the full tutorial from Willodel here and see the Facebook page for even more crafty projects. These would look fab on any Christmas tree and have pride of place at Christmas party venues in London.
