How have you saved money this week? My week has been really busy as I was In London at the start of the week for a blogging event and then my youngest’s school had the dreaded Ofsted call. I am a governor and it meant the next few days were taken up with school issues. Erin has also been poorly with a nasty case of croup and was very poorly at one point and struggling to breathe. Thank goodness for steroids but I really thought we had outgrown croup. Seems not.
This has not left much time for being frugal but some of the things I do are embedded into my weekly practices and as such when I thought carefully I find where I had managed to save.
1. I started my Christmas shopping as I found the perfect present for someone. This gorgeous personalised cake tin is currently reduced from £39.95 to £12 mine has arrived and is perfect. I might order another now!
2. I batch cooked as I knew I would be busy so I cooked two lots of bolognaise and have frozen some. This is a cheaper way of cooking and also will save me time.
3. Using Zeek has saved me money this week. A full review is coming on Zeek but for now sign up here and you will be given a £5 credit and I can share how to utilise this in my next post!
4. Chloe has started A Levels and is already having lots of project and research work to do. She had asked for a Mac Book but I couldn’t justify the cost when they already have iPads and laptops. However I too have also lusted for a Mac Book Pro for editing purposes. My little cousin put on Facebook that he was selling his and so I quickly bought it off him. I am wary buying second hand electronical stuff as you never know of hidden faults. However buying from family and friends is genuinely a safe option and besides I know where my cousin lives if it goes wrong!!
5. Finally I went to the Next Sale on Saturday between dance and hockey lessons. I didn’t go to the huge one as I didn’t want huge crowds with lots of jostling.. Therefore I picked a small local one and was really pleased with my purchases. I actually vlogged my shopping haul which you can see below.

That cake tin looks gorgeous! I need to get my act together on the batch cooking front. It would save me so much time, and be great for nights when we’re all busy.
