What a busy week it has been for me! I have had my inlaws here for a few days, Chloe has gone back to University and then yesterday I attended the Tourism Forum in Cheltenham.
It was a really interesting day and reinvigorated my passions for writing about local attractions – and promoting the beautiful Cotswold area in which I live.
I am still in a great money-saving mood and have been really good with spending. I think it is much easier when you have a goal and paying off my holiday for the upcoming summer is certainly motivation enough for me!
Five Fabulously Frugal Things
This week I have kept to a small budget and I partly put this down to being busy but also not going near the shops! I have avoided town and the sales which would tempt me into spending.
Secondly, I have been using the Feed Your Family for £20 Per Week which makes saving money on food easier. I have a copy of the book to giveaway too so make sure you enter by reading the post and following the Rafflecopter instructions.
Next, I have saved by making sure by tax return was done on time and I had included all my expenses. As a freelancer this is so important and keeping track of expenses makes a big difference at the end of the financial year.
For those patiently waiting for the Boots 70% off sale it is rumoured to take place next Friday. I will, of course, be doing my usual sale haul and will share it online. It is my favourite sale of the year! It offers a chance to stock up on gifts for the year ahead and also for stocking fillers for my teens and tween for next Christmas!
Finally, 18 months ago I started investing with Nutmeg after being left some money and it is performing really well. It is so much better than just having money in a current account. I am putting away a fixed amount every month and I am super happy with the returns so far which are currently over 8%. These investments are what I will be relying on in my later years as I no longer have a pension that I am paying into. This year you will see me talking about investing more and I just wish I had started earlier even with a small regular amount! I have been banging on about this to my teenagers and they are keen to start investing now! Nutmeg offers some great accounts and I track everything on my phone which I love!
