How to Simplify Your Life?

March 4, 2019 by EmmaB Leave a Comment

It would not be wrong if we say that our current lifestyle is complicated. It’s far from being simple. Life was simpler probably 10 or 20 years back. But in current times, everyone’s lifestyle, be it kids or grown-ups, has taken a toll on themselves.

Now imagine a life where you know what you want to do in your life, you know how to achieve your goals, everything has a place of its own in your house, and you are happy just because your life is simple!

It is possible to simplify your life by following some tips:

To begin with, start writing your goals and plans. You can either go for an online app/software or write down your goals using a pen and paper.

You can divide your goals into yearly, monthly and weekly goals. If you want to simplify it further, you can split them into daily goals as well. The simple reason behind this is that when you write down your goals you know the amount of work you have to do to achieve them.

As you achieve one goal, tick it off your list. This is an efficient approach for achieving your targets and aims. Write down everything – from a simple task like paying your electricity bill to big life goals like buying a car When you are aware of all the work you have to do or all the goals you have to achieve in your life; you will take a step towards simplifying your life. Also, don’t try to do all the work together. Here’s why writing down your goals come into use.

Divide your work into days, weeks or months. In this way, you won’t overburden yourself with daily tasks.

Give your body time to relax. You must have heard the famous proverb –

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

This simple line not only applies to kids but even to Grown Ups. If you continuously keep working, your body will get tired. You need to give your body a chance to rejuvenate. Try to take a day off from not only your official work but also from your day to day tasks. Just relax, sleep, read books, go out for an outing, play with your kids etc.

Take a break from Technology. Our overuse of Technology including mobile phones, laptops, social media, answering emails etc. is harmful to us. Have a technology Detox day once in a week. See that you don’t use your phone or laptop on this day. Utilize this day for doing other activities like reading, cooking, baking, sketching or whatever your hobby is.

Another significant factor that contributes to simplifying your life is to start saying ‘no’. One of the biggest reasons our life is complicated is because we want to please everyone. You are a single individual, and therefore you can’t help everyone. Even if you try your level best, you won’t be able to assist everyone in their tasks. Save some time from your day for yourself. Sit alone. Practice yoga. Listen to some music. In short, take a break to spend some alone time. No human being is perfect. Therefore it is okay if you commit mistakes. It is completely fine if you miss the deadlines.

Don’t pressurise yourself for doing everything correctly.

Also, stop over thinking. Overthinking is one of the biggest reasons for complications in life. Stop worrying about the future and stop thinking about your past. Live in your present to the fullest.

Thus, by making small changes like these in your lifestyle, you would be able to simplify your life.
