How well do you sleep?

October 9, 2014 by EmmaB Leave a Comment

I am a lover of sleep, I love nothing more than climbing into my bed and snuggling down.  As a parent I think sleep deprivation is torture and the most difficult part of being a parent.  You can throw (not literally but figuratively) pretty much anything at me during the day but come night-time I will turn into monster if my sleep is repetitively broken. Erin has asthma and her relentless coughing at night has driven me to the GP with her numerous times.

My bedroom is supposed to be my relaxing and tranquil room and to a large extent it is.  I was lucky enough to win a Feather and Black competition a few years ago which saw me having a lovely room makeover.  We bought a beautiful bed with our winnings and I then upgraded all my bedding too.

My children do pretty much like their sleep too and I find that mother nature does like to play us with sleep.  Teenagers seem to need to sleep the hours away and this is when parents can get their own back by being noisy and hoovering outside their door when they are asleep.  It is natures payback for the times that as a new parent you laid down to get some shut eye and they, as a new baby, decided that was the precise minute they needed feeding or more mummy cuddles!

If you struggle with sleep and switching off it maybe because you are not sticking to a routine or simply you are not preparing yourself for sleep.  Thankfully if this is the case Feather And Black have put together this beautiful sleep book which will help you find your way to that lovely slumber you are dreaming of (pun intended!)

The book gives some really fascinating statistics as they asked 1000 adults what is needed for a good nights sleep.  The responses suggested that 48% claimed the right mattress was important, 22% claimed a tidy bedroom was important.  I agree with this although my teen wouldn’t as she seems to manage to sleep even though her floor is strewn with clothes.  I do like a tidy room and it helps me feel organised, relaxed and switched off.  In fact if you need some storage to get your looking calm Feather and Black have some great solutions including lovely blanket boxes and decadent throws and cushions.  Having been the proud owner of Feather and Brown furniture I can vouch for the quality and that is important when making big purchases.  They may not be bargains but the quality speaks for themselves and it will be a wise investment and last for ages.
