Does anyone else have *those* conversations about how much they spend on the children’s clothing? I am a total sucker for nice clothes for Erin. Having two teenagerss I don’t get to choose the older two’s clothes anymore and so I make the most of dressing Erin in the sales that I find from Love the Sales.
I like children’s clothes to be made for children to play in. It needs to be a comfy fit and age appropriate styles. I also like to buy a smart wardrobe of clothes that go together. One example is Joules, they create a collection of clothes from the same fabric or colour scheme. Often I will buy a number of pieces in the collection because they co-ordinate and make complete outfits with ease. I take the same approach when decorating these days and buy the whole look. It just works and it always looks great. In these photo’s Erin is wearing Joules and they are such a great fit.
Buying children’s clothes in the sales makes sense to me. You get the quality of the brand you like but at a better price. This means that sometimes I buy out of season. I will stock up with next summer’s clothes at the end of the season. Clothes like Joules, Monsoon and Gap have a style that is timeless. It means the clothes don’t date.
Another plus point of buying like this is that I get high end high street at bargain prices. These brands last better than many supermarket or cheaper brands. They wash well, they don’t fade and they continue to stand the test of time.
Look for times when clothes are on promotion too, Joules does a buy 2 get 1 free on new ranges from time to time. This is another time I stock up. This week I did just that and for some reason the till was even more generous! Once it went through the till I actually got a bigger discount than expected!
Buying in the sales is clever and makes your money go further. I often also buy dresses as they are a complete outfit and often work out cheaper than buying separates. I think they are more practical too and cuts down on my washing pile!
Furthermore these brands hold their value and can easily be passed down to younger siblings or sold on to others. Making it a win win and is a great way to justify the purchase in the first place!
