Why you should consider a weekend away outside of London

September 17, 2019 by EmmaB Leave a Comment

A weekend in the capital is great fun but it is certainly not a cheap way to have a weekend away. There are plenty of other options if you need to be mindful of your budget but still want a weekend away with your loved ones.

In this post I am sharing a couple of ways to reconnect and enjoy some time away from home without breaking the bank and paying London prices. Swap the city for the countryside and slow down for a few days.

Firstly visit friends. Thanks to being more geographically mobile many of us have family and friends dotted about all over the country. Therefore you could plan a weekend away to visit others. Or you could swap houses with a friend for the weekend and enjoy the home from home comforts but spend nothing on accommodation. Then all you need to spend is on your travel like catching a train going from Brighton to Bedford and then your entertainment.

You could choose to stay in the Cotswolds for a relaxed weekend of country pubs, walks and more. Swap the city life for a weekend of relaxing and detoxing from all things digital.

Give your mind and body a break with a spa weekend away, I can totally recommend Bath which has the spa and beautiful shopping and life at a slower pace.

Consider an Air BnB property – you could club together with friends and stay in a barn and party away. Think fireplaces, blankets and fine wine. Now that is my type of weekend.

If you have a dog then the countryside is ideal and many hotels let you bring your pup with you. Enjoy long walks during the day and breathe in the fresh air.

There is plenty of alternatives to London life and you don’t need to travel to far to make the most of a weekend away. Many of us want a weekend break for a change of routine and this can be achieved relatively easily without costing too much.

Finally do check out sites like Groupon who regularly have great deals for weekends away.
