Today the sun was shining and we decided that we really do need to make the most of the last hurrah of summer. Therefore we made a snap decision to pop over to the Forest of Dean. It is always a great, cheap day out. I love walking in the Forest and letting the children run free. The area is popular with families BBQ-ing and enjoying the outdoors. We went to Go Ape earlier in the summer which was brilliant.
When we are arrived at Beechenhurst we spotted the Gruffalo trail which is the perfect distance for Erin. We are only just going out with no buggy, it’s in the boot but she doesn’t know that!! Erin is still unsteady on her feet on walks like this where the ground is uneven. Today was no exception and she did take a tumble but at least she gives it a good go!
The Gruffalo trail is a fun, simple walk that is perfect for preschoolers and little legs. Erin enjoyed spotting the characters from one of her favourite stories and she posed happily for photos with each. You may notice the Gruffalo is missing as he was just too scary to stand by!
We even posed for a family selfie
After the walk there is a fab area for children to play whilst the grown ups can sit and watch. I love that there are different trails marked out from walks that last 3 hours or a more sedately 1 hour sculpture trail. We really are very lucky to have such a beautiful Forest only 30 mins away.
