Five Fabulously Frugal Things Linky

Can you even be frugal during a half term week? This has been my reality this week and the answer yes because being frugal, or not wasting money is all about getting a good deal. For me, it is not about going without, far from it. It is making good choices and spending wisely.

This week Erin asked if we can go out for afternoon tea and my first thought was to turn to Groupon, who did have some good deals, but I couldn’t get to the one I wanted and everything else was still quite pricey. I spent 15 minutes on Google and found a lovely tea room that looks great in town and we are heading there instead. Sometimes it is worth looking around I’m glad that we are supporting a small independent in this case too.

Secondly, we saved on parking costs when visiting town by just parking a ten-minute walk away. It helps with fitness, saves money and helps me get my 10,000 steps. Win win

Erin wanted some new reading books, I am really trying to extend her reading and she took up a 3 for 2 offer in WH Smith this week. I’ll let you know what she thinks of the books she picked out.

Whilst in there Lee also spotted that there was a box of Christmas wrapping being sold off at 20p a roll. Of course we stocked up and now I just need to remember where we’ve put them so I don’t forget to use them later in the year!

Finally Dylan is turning 16 next week and he loves to support Cheltenham Football team and has a season ticket. He travels by train to some away games but as he is 16 it cannot get children’s prices. However by buying a 16/17 railcard he gets 50% off travel costs. This takes it back to child prices. I think its terrible that a school boy should be paying full price train fare! For £30 we are able to get the card.
