Travel inspired interiors.

June 16, 2014 by EmmaB 1 Comment

I really enjoy travelling and often find myself picking up a souvenir when on holiday that helps keep the memories fresh.  We bought a wooden turtle on our honeymoon for example that sits by our front door meaning we see it several times a day.  When away on holiday I love taking a peek into the local community and watching how the locals live.  We visit Spain often and as we wonder the local streets I cannot help but peek through the often wide … [Read more...]

Your Perfect Wedding Venue in Cardiff

May 20, 2014 by EmmaB Leave a Comment

The capital city of Wales has many a wedding venue and many a beautiful spot just perfect for a wedding photo - Cardiff Bay has been said to have matched Sorrento in Italy in terms of prettiness in the moonlight, for example. With the city being built around the stunning castle, and the beautiful old buildings mixing seamlessly with the new, it's a wonderful place to marry. If you haven't been to look at them already, make sure you visit a few of … [Read more...]

How to get half price frappucinos at Starbucks

May 18, 2014 by EmmaB Leave a Comment

This week it is a happy week with happy hours at Starbucks.  My teen loves a Frappucino but they are quite pricey however this week 15th - 23rd of May between 3-5 they are all half price.  There is no signage about this but it is certainly true as we went in today at exactly 3pm - yes we were the ones hovering at the door and checking our phones for the time - and had a half price chocolate frappucino. I still need to work on my girl though … [Read more...]

This months magazine beauty freebies.

May 8, 2014 by EmmaB Leave a Comment

I am back with another way to secure high end beauty products are bargain prices. Last week I suggested contacting companies for beauty samples but I also buy magazines just to get their freebies. I like trying new brands and women's monthly magazines are normally awash the samples.  I use these samples when I go away for the weekend or I keep them and add them to a little hamper that I will give the teenager at Christmas or on her birthday. … [Read more...]

Learning to use my camera

May 4, 2014 by EmmaB 5 Comments

One aspect that I really admire on other blogs are the beautiful images.  I bought myself a bridge camera last year and still haven't utilised it.  partly because I get frustrated that I don't know what the different buttons do and partly because I am impatient to learn.  Helen has started up a new 'expressions' linky and I thought now is the time to hone those skills.  Luckily the girls are quite willingly to be my models and neither shy away … [Read more...]

Bloggers Desk Landscape

May 2, 2014 by EmmaB Leave a Comment

This month has seen a big change at home as I am currently carving out a a new working area in our office. Lee bought a fab big desk from Ebay then he sourced a faux leather swivel chair.  So far he has been using this space to mark  students work.  Little does he know that this is soon to become MY space!  The dining rooms and office have both just been recarpeted and we like the wall paper therefore it just needs some cosmetic changes. It … [Read more...]

Collecting beauty samples

May 1, 2014 by EmmaB 4 Comments

The cost of beauty can soon mount up.  I am not terribly vain but I do like to use luxury brand products.  As I said in my introductory post I like to live well but I need to cut my spending.  Therefore I thought I would be cheeky and contact some of my favourite beauty companies and ask for some samples. I simply emailed suggesting that I am looking to change my beauty regime.  The lovely people at Elemis replied almost immediately asking me … [Read more...]

Money saving at lunchtimes

April 27, 2014 by EmmaB 2 Comments

Making lunchboxes is often part of the parenting regime, come the evening I find myself making sandwiches and the children complaining we have no decent food in the house.  Sandwiches are put together for the husband and for the children.  However I am really bad at being quite so prepared myself.  I don't like sandwiches and never have and therefore my own lunchboxes as a child consisted of cream crackers that had gone soft with the butter or … [Read more...]

Ideas for free outside fun in lovely weather.

April 16, 2014 by EmmaB Leave a Comment

We here are loving the warm sunny weather.  It has been a gift to come back from Spain to the UK sunshine.  With the weather being so good I have noticed the positive effect it has had on my pocket.  Take today for example Dyl busied himself at the skate park on his scooter with friends.  Afternoons have been spent in the park with Erin she is loving the new skill she has picked up, riding her bike.  It brings her such joy. Being outside is so … [Read more...]

Thrifty Fashion

April 14, 2014 by EmmaB 9 Comments

I spend a small fortune on clothes, I have a penchant for seeing my children in designer labels and although fast fashion from the supermarkets initially look good I often find they don't last as well.  This causes me a corundum as I am committed to saving money but also expect quality.  Therefore  this week when I spotted a John Lewis skirt in Erin's size I snaffled it up for the bargain price of £2.50.  It has been a while since I bought … [Read more...]
