This past summer we had our dream holiday to Disneyworld it was rather special and had been a long time in the saving and planning stages. It was a family holiday that my parents and brother joined us on. Whilst we were there I had arranged a few extra treats includingLee and I watching the extravaganza which is Cirque du Soleil (this was part of his 40th Birthday present which was a great add on to Disney parks) I was memorized from the start … [Read more...]
A Christmas outfit to make mum sparkle.
It might only be the start of November but I am already planning Christmas! I love nothing more than the preparation and planning and that includes Christmas day outfits. There seems to be two types of outfits with families either dressing up or dressing down. I opt for dressing up. However if like me you like to do this on a budget I have found the most wonderful jewellery website where you can buy very expensive looking pieces for a good price. … [Read more...]
Tasty meals from Maris Piper Potato #FluffyMarisPiper
“This post is an entry for #FluffyMarisPiper Linky Challlenge sponsored by Potato Council. Learn more at Love Potatoes. What's not to love about the good old spud? It is a staple in most households and can provide good, nutritious food in so many forms. The Maris Piper is a firm family favourite and cheap, which makes it an ideal mention on a money saving blog. Mondays is our busy busy evening with school clubs that me and the children … [Read more...]
How to shop the sales easily
When I had a daughter as my first born I was thrilled that in the future I would have a shopping buddy. Frankly buying clothes for girls is much more fun than buying for boys. Over the past 15 years I dread to consider what I have spent on on clothes for the children, Chloe imparticular takes after her mother and has champagne tastes on a prosecco budget! But prosecco is all good in my books depending where you buy it from! The same with … [Read more...]

Making money online
The internet has really opened up the possibility of creating money online which is an easy way to add to the family income. I have tried lots of ways over the years from selling on Ebay, mystery shopping and online surveys. I plan to feature each method over the coming weeks and share my success stories but I am starting with a genius new website. Most of us now are good at comparing prices prices online using price comparison tools and … [Read more...]
Having a bottom drawer
I love a good sale but they need to be organised, I am not one for jumble sales or searching through a shop that looks like one. I like order to much. However a good rummage can certainly find some great bargains and this is how I stock up my bottom drawer. The children know that the bottom drawer in my room is out of bounds, they know it contains a mystery of presents for others. If I see a bargain it is bought and tucked away. This week … [Read more...]

Handmade with love
Making money when you are a young teen can be difficult, too young for jobs (I'm not ever going to let her do a paper round in the morning) and yet many of us want to teach our teens about budgeting and making responsible decisions. This blog has been partly born to document how Chloe along with our support will save 2K for sports tour. So far we have completed a very successful car boot sale. In addition to sorting out what was our junk but … [Read more...]
Enjoying the last of summer.
Today the sun was shining and we decided that we really do need to make the most of the last hurrah of summer. Therefore we made a snap decision to pop over to the Forest of Dean. It is always a great, cheap day out. I love walking in the Forest and letting the children run free. The area is popular with families BBQ-ing and enjoying the outdoors. We went to Go Ape earlier in the summer which was brilliant. When we are arrived at … [Read more...]
