Recipes for homemade face masks

February 19, 2015 by EmmaB 6 Comments

It is half term and I have been looking at different activities I can do with the children that don't cost too much.  Today the weather has been decidedly unhelpful meaning no trips to the park.  We can't really complain as we had gorgeous February weather for our visit to London.  Therefore I decided to have some pampering time with the girls. Rather than use shop bought face-masks that often contain lots of ingredients that actually dry out … [Read more...]

How to save money on keeping fit

February 15, 2015 by EmmaB 10 Comments

I had an £80 per month gym membership until last summer when I left teaching.  I liked going to the gym and using the running machine, followed by a sit in the jacuzzi and possibly twenty minutes in the sauna.  I would take the children swimming once a week during term time and a bit more during the holidays.  However it was something that I had to give up.  I didn't really get £80 worth every month if I'm honest.  I didn't actually even need to … [Read more...]

How to Save Money on Food the Easy Way.

February 13, 2015 by EmmaB 24 Comments

What is better than cheap - free! That's right I have found an app that gives you free food to try but more of that in a bit.  Firstly I want to share how I am reducing my food bills.  As I have said many times before I like nice things so going without is not an option for me and thankfully I have never been in a position to really worry about the cost of food but that doesn't mean I like paying more than I need to. Here are some of my … [Read more...]

End of the line bargains

February 11, 2015 by EmmaB Leave a Comment

Having a second girl I immediately imagined the gorgeous clothes she would wear.  I was so convinced even before my pregnancy scans that Erin was a girl that I had bought girls things.  The nausea I had experienced with Chloe but not with Dylan told me for certain that I was carrying a girl and a scan at 32 weeks finally confirmed it.  At earlier scans Erin was never in a good enough position to identify her gender. I have enjoyed dressing … [Read more...]

How I got £102 of beauty products for £17.99

February 1, 2015 by EmmaB 25 Comments

I like beauty buys and I like trying new products.  I am not often loyal to a specific brand and so a beauty bargain is always appreciated.  Since leaving work I have more time for bargain hunting (which is a good job now that I am on more of a budget) TKMaxx has been one of my favourite places to secure a good beauty bargain but this week I had a great haul. I have used beauty boxes before but often end up disappointed, yet All Boxed Up have … [Read more...]

My first car was one of the family.

January 24, 2015 by EmmaB 4 Comments

My first car was a family heirloom and certainly has a story to tell!  The car was with us from 1984 -2002 Therefore when I spotted that InsuranceRevolution were asking about our first cars I thought I'd share my memories.  You too can share your first car tales to be in with a chance of winning a great driving experience at Silverstone and overnight accommodation at a nearby Park Inn by Radisson hotel! Oh how I'd love to win this.  I'd also earn … [Read more...]

Dressing for play

January 17, 2015 by EmmaB 11 Comments

I love a bargain and especially when it proves its worth. Erin appears to be very bright something I had not really realised until she started school. It seems that the many hours we spent colouring, counting, reading and generally doing stuff that developed her fine motor skills whilst Erin was in spica has impacted on both her concentration and her ability. It wasn't anything we pushed but that coupled with being involved in adult conversation … [Read more...]

Meal planning

January 7, 2015 by EmmaB 10 Comments

One of the ways I plan to reduce our spending is by meal planning. I am not very good at this we seem to always have random things in the fridge and cupboard. However this is set to change as I cook more and plan our weekly evening meals better. For me the issue is that we often eat at different times due to everyone's after school activities and clubs. Lee is always late home and the children have usually eaten by then. I find that cooking this … [Read more...]

Six ways to reuse Christmas Cards

January 5, 2015 by EmmaB 10 Comments

I have received less Christmas Cards this than previous years and this seems to be a continuing trend.  I think it is wonderful that many will donate now to their favourite charity rather than send Christmas cards.  However there are some people I still send cards too, mainly old friends where I write a nice catch up letter at the same time. It seems to be the children that get the most cards, especially if they are still at primary school. … [Read more...]

Charity shops for Educational resources.

December 3, 2014 by EmmaB 1 Comment

I have been tidying and sorting out the past two weeks. I always have a big clear out at this time of the year and take regular trips down to the local charity shop in order to pass on what you know longer love or use. Charity shops have been in the bloggers news the past couple of weeks following on from a heated debate on twitter on buying presents from charity shops. It caused me to think about where I am on this. Basically I have bought many … [Read more...]
