November 23, 2018 by EmmaB 2 Comments

Today is Black Friday which is one of the biggest shopping days of the year. However, before you spend your hard earned money do read my top tips which were published in the Mirror at the start of the week titled Black Friday Hacks. The most important thing is to be prepared and do your research before you get caught up in a spending frenzy. That said I will be making the most of the Black Friday offers and have my list ready and good to go! I … [Read more...]

Happy Friday everyone, it is going to be a busy weekend here as it is Erin's birthday and we have a surprise visitor coming to stay for the weekend. I cannot wait to see Erin's face later and have promised a roast dinner tonight too! We have ballet exams and hockey tournaments this weekend to keep us on our toes as well! In terms of being frugal this week, I have had a few successes but equally we are coming up to the most expensive shopping … [Read more...]

We are hurtling towards Christmas now and I haven't started shopping. I have some bits from my Boots 70% off sale haul that I do each Jan but that is about as far as it goes. Have you started yet? I plan to make a list today of everyone I buy for and see what is what. This week I have finally had some overdue invoices settled which always pleases me. Working freelance is often a juggle of finances where I am owed large sums of money and I am … [Read more...]

It's November does that mean we can start talking Christmas yet? My kids certainly seem to think it is and I am getting lots of not so subtle hints dropped! However, in all seriousness now is the time to start spotting those special buys that really are good deals. Five Fabulously Frugal Things I've Done First up if you are still looking for a special advent calendar the Revolution Christmas Advent Calendar is the one getting all the … [Read more...]

Five Fabulously Frugal Thing’s I’ve Done

October 19, 2018 by EmmaB 4 Comments

Good morning and here we are back at another Friday. This week I have been really busy but managed to make a few good savings. Firstly did you know that last Halloween Brits spent £200 million on treats for the celebration? Yet many of us do not do anything with the inside of the pumpkin. Instead, we just use the skin for our jack o lanterns. Therefore I have been working with Aldi to look at how we can use the pumpkin itself. Erin and I got … [Read more...]

Well, the weather has definitely taken a turn today and I am hunting out my jumpers now. I am hoping the half term stays dry as I find it costs so much more to entertain the children when it is wet. It means cinema trips rather than walks in the woods! This week I have spent quite a bit because the eldest needed the University hockey kit but we have agreed that the extra's like the padded coat will be a Christmas present! Sport is so important … [Read more...]

October already and we are definitely into Autumn now! It's getting darker earlier, the heating has gone on a few times and the leaves are crisp and brown. This week I have managed to be frugal in a few ways. Autumn is a great time to bag a few clothes bargains and TK Maxx is one of my favourite places to shop for designer labels at a fraction of the price. This week I picked up crazy priced Jaeger and also some statement T … [Read more...]

What a lovely couple of days weather we have been having. At home, we are slowly adjusting to our eldest heading to University and how quiet it has left the house. I have also noticed that the food is lasting much longer as a result! Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve Done Linky Firstly I started group training at Iron Zuu a few months back, whilst at first glance it can seem pricey at £89 per month it is great value for money. If you … [Read more...]

What an expensive week! If it isn't the kids it is the dog causing me to spend spend spend. September is the month for renewing subs in Hockey, dance and football. Plus the dog's insurance and yearly boosters. This means I have been spending hundreds this past week. However, I have still managed a few great savings along the way. Five Fabulously Frugal Things I've Done Linky Firstly we had a great yellow sticker hunt on Tuesday. … [Read more...]

Back to school and fresh starts are one of my favourite times of the year. It is another chance to draw a line in the sand and set some challenges and goals for the final quarter of the year. It is all change for us as Chloe is about to head to university and that is going to be financially challenging as she doesn't get much living loan - it doesn't even cover her accommodation costs. Therefore we are supporting her financially yet no longer get … [Read more...]
